THE SCIENTIFIC ADVANTAGE
THE PERFECT MASK™
THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT, formally known as the STEM CELL MASK™ and previously available for the select few at highly exclusive physician clinics in Beverly Hills, Newport Beach and Fifth Avenue, provides a shining example of ingenuity and a healthy alternative to a majority of existing skincare treatments.”
Only less than 0.5% of the active ingredients in conventional cosmeceuticals are able to penetrate the skin barrier. But with THE PERFECT MASK™, paired with our sterile, medical-grade titanium needle-studded roller, our extraordinary ingredients turn into highly effective actives due to the enhanced penetration achieved by this unique roller.
When our versatile serum, enriched with highly concentrated peptides and key active ingredients, meet up with our Micro-Needle Roller, the result is a powerful union known as THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT.
Designed to enhance deep penetration of the skin, the Micro-Needle Roller increases the absorption of our unique serum by as much as 200 times, allowing the key actives to create real change and produce a greater amount of healthier collagen. Compared to the market’s numerous micro-injury techniques, THE PERFECT MASK™ offers incomparable results with less pain, cost and effort.
SKIN NEEDLING
The system of skin needling was first innovated during the Fifties by the founder of mesotherapy, Dr. Michel Pistor, who didn’t employ the method himself but came up with the concept of pricking the skin as a means to promote collagen formation.
Skin needling helps treat lip lines, lines on lower eyelids, pigmentation marks, skin lightening and, in some cases, even removing traces of scars from superficial to deep cuts, severe acne scars, stretch marks and chicken pox.
Naturally, when the blood vessel is pricked, it causes bleeding, which causes the platelet cells inside the blood to clot. Simultaneously, growth factors are released and, in turn, causes the skin to heal.
The process promotes a greater generation of collagen and elastin, which produces the surge of the TGFB3 (Transforming growth factor beta-3) molecule, which helps the skin tissue to regenerate instead of scar.
Skin needling is quite different from laser treatment as the results tend to last much longer, and the skin actually becomes healthier, especially when used in conjunction with vitamins A and C.
Dr. Fernandes, the pioneer of micro-needling, has claimed that needling is “a topic of discussion at medical conferences and one of the safest procedures that you can do to your skin.”
While you can’t perform multiple laser skin treatments back to back to smooth the skin, you can do several sessions of needling, which also makes the skin thicker.
“Laser basically burns your skin. When you have a flash burn on your face, you end up looking several years younger. Later, you get fine wrinkling of your skin. This damaged skin cannot be replaced,” Fernandes explains.
If someone has already undergone laser skin treatments, can needling still be done to improve the skin?
“Yes, with needling, the patient will not only get better-looking and healthier skin, she will regain her normal skin,” he claims.
To Dr. Fernandes, it’s ironic that people sign up for a procedure that involves aggressive burning of the skin without hesitation, yet they balk at the idea of needling, which is backed by hundreds of years of history and experience.
PROTECTING THE INTEGRITY OF SKIN
Until recently, researchers focused their attention on the fibroblast, the dermal cells vital to making collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Medical esthetics has been focusing on micro-injury techniques to stimulate the fibroblast, using heat-based modalities like lasers, which can abuse skin at the expense of the melanocyte and keratinocyte. These treatments generate heat that coagulates and inactivates the Epidermal Growth Factors (EGFs) needed to repair the very micro-wounds they create.
Melanocytes, in particular, are extremely susceptible to heat injury employed by many of these anti-aging treatments, with the damage leading to hypo- or hyperpigmentation.
The first cells to show signs of damage in the aging process, melanocytes naturally decrease at a rate of 10% to 20% every 10 years. Once lost, they cannot be replaced.
Likewise, a well-functioning keratinocyte ensures normal barrier function, reducing transepidermal water loss and normalizing cell turnover for a smooth skin texture.
New research has revealed that the keratinocyte releases several key growth factors that orchestrate underlying cell turnover to facilitate ideal skin rejuvenation.
A true skin rejuvenation program needs to address all three types of these cells—the fibroblast, the melanocyte and the keratinocyte.
THE PERFECT MASK™ is non-ablative, non-heat-based treatment that respects the integrity of the epidermis, including the keratinocyte and melanocyte, and the roles they play in the skin’s health. The mechanical delivery system of the Micro-Needle Roller gently stimulates the fibroblasts while keeping the epidermis layer’s keratinocytes and melanocytes well intact.
THE PERFECT MASK™ also promotes the release of growth factors, namely Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and TGF-B3 (Transforming Growth Factor, Beta 3). And unlike aggressive, ablative, heat-based treatments that thin the epidermis and damage growth factors, THE PERFECT MASK™ uses EGF to help build up the epidermis and prevent age-related thinning.
With the epidermis providing a natural barrier against pathogens, environmental free radicals and pollutants, it’s easy to see why protecting this outer protective layer of skin is key to the skin’s health and why THE PERFECT MASK™ has the edge over today’s popular ablative and non-ablative, heat-based treatments.
WHAT’S IN IT
PLCENTX-FORTE®:
This lyophilized extract of the finest quality ovine placental and umbilical cord tissue is collected immediately after birth so no animals are harmed during the process.
Containing a rich cache of concentrated nutrients, PLCENTX-FORTE® is a completely natural and cruelty-free serum. Every batch is cryogenically processed using state-of-the-art micro-lyophilization and our proprietary technology.
Why Sheep Placenta? Sheep have strong immune systems and demonstrate natural resistance to many diseases. But, more importantly, studies have shown that the proteins found in these specialized sheep cells are particularly compatible with the ones found in humans.
Unlike the somatic foreign cells, the placenta and umbilical cord adult (post-birth) stem cells don’t cause dangerous autoimmune reactions. And unlike plant stem cells (it’s a plant…and mammals are not plants!), sheep placenta and umbilical cord stem cells bear a likeness more closely akin to human cells.
We also use sheep placenta out of pure ethics and of a purity of the stem cells lines, verified by the detailed records. Many people would simply refuse to even consider using human placenta and umbilical cord stem cells (rightfully so!). Because the sheep placenta we use is obtained after the lamb’s birth, cultivation is completely harmless to the animal; no animal is ever hurt or harmed.
nanoGOLD:
Gold, a natural antioxidant, promotes circulation, affectively energizing the skin. In its nano form, gold is safely delivered to the cellular level of the skin, where it offers its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties to assist in the stimulation of the cell metabolism, collagen and elastin production, and fighting age-related inflammation.
HYALURONIC ACID:
Legends say it contains the nearly magical properties. Although it is called an “acid” it occurs naturally in the skin (and joints) and its moisturizing properties are of such nature that cosmetic surgeons inject it to remove wrinkles.
What makes hyaluronic acid even a more attractive cosmetic ingredient is the fact that it is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing – so it can be used on all skin types.
But injecting hyaluronic acid is not necessary – This cosmetic ingredient penetrates the skin the deepest and imparts its moisturizing effect to the skin, and also “holds” moisture in the skin – giving a far more youthful-looking appearance.
Hyaluronic acid is so effective that it will penetrate the dermis and epidermis within 30 minutes of application. This fact was well documented in clinical trails, which show that it not only passively diffuses into the skin, but is made possible by active transport into the skin.
As a component of the extracellular matrix, hyaluronic acid serves as a means of facilitating cell surface receptor interactions, and as a lubricant, facilitating cell movement.
Many of these important functions are due to the fact that hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant, a molecule that attracts and holds water. It is estimated that hyaluronic acid can hold up at 1000 times its own weight in water. In skin tissue, this ability to hold water is very important. Hyaluronic acid is necessary for maintaining the structural integrity of the extracellular matrix of dermal tissue (the layer of skin tissue below the epidermis, which is the outermost layer). It is also necessary for maintaining skin hydration and the barrier function of the skin, helping to slow down trans-epidermal water loss to the environment. It is also an important factor in skin tissue repair.
GLYCERIN:
Glycerin is a substance present in all human and animal fats. It can be derived naturally by the fermentation of sugars or hydrolysis (decomposition of a chemical compound by reaction with water) of fats. Glycerin is a humectant: it has the ability to draw water from the environment and the dermis (the lower layers of skin) into the outer (surface) layers of the skin. It also helps keep the skin’s natural barrier intact. Because of this, Glycerin helps keep skin moisturized and soft, preventing dryness.
KOJIC ACID:
Kojic acid is a fine white powdery substance composed of tiny crystals. The formal discovery of Kojic acid occurred in 1989, and since then, the substance has been used widely in skin care products due to its numerous benefits. The ingredient is obtained from mushrooms that are native to Japan and is a by-product of the fermentation process used to produce the alcoholic beverage sake.
In skin care products, Kojic acid functions primarily as a skin-lightening agent.
In addition to its skin-lightening abilities, Kojic acid is classified as an antioxidant. This class of nutrients has the ability to counteract the effects of particles in the air called free radicals, which have the potential to cause oxidative damage to the skin cells. By limiting the effects of free radicals, Kojic acid helps to prevent the formation of signs of aging that occur when the cells that produce the skin’s vital structural proteins become damaged.
Kojic acid is also an antibacterial agent, meaning that it interferes with the processes that bacteria cells must perform to thrive and reproduce. By disrupting these processes, Kojic acid causes the death of bacteria. Some dermatologists recommend the use of mild concentrations of Kojic acid for addressing acne blemishes, which are often caused by bacterial infections in the pores.
VITAMIN C:
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that slows the rate of free radical damage (free radicals are unstable molecules that damage collagen and cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles). New research shows that ascorbic acid 2-phosphate, a derivative of vitamin C, not only neutralizes free radicals, but also reverses DNA damage.

Research suggests that vitamin C may also reduce sunburn caused by exposure to ultraviolet B radiation and prevent the consequences of long-term sun exposure, which can lead to skin cancer.

VITAMIN A:
As you grow older, your skin’s ability to renew itself slows down, skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles become more evident. Retinol, a Vitamin A derivative, has ability to work deep within the skin’s surface to reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as other signs of skin aging.
Retinol is the #1 dermatologist-recommended age-fighting ingredient. This is because Retinol acts as a skin cell messaging molecule, due to its ability to influence almost any skin cell to start working as a younger, healthy skin cell.
Human skin contains enzymes that act as vitamin A converters. These enzymes convert topically applied retinol into the vitamin A-derived retinoic acid. Scientific studies show retinoic acid plumps wrinkles and kick-starts the release of collagen, and therefore adds youthful volume to your face. As a result, skin cell turnover is increased, wrinkles and fine lines are gradually smoothed, the complexion glows and damage is diminished.
Both, retinol and Vitamin C are important in the production of new collagen in human fibroblast cells. Moreover, studies have shown that retinol and Vitamin C use different mechanisms to synthesize collagen. In addition, retinol and Vitamin C, when combined, help to reduce hyperpigmentation and age spots, improving overall skin tone and texture.
According to a study published in the journal JAMA Dermatology, retinol has shown significant improvement of natural aged skin. After 24 weeks, the analysis showed significant differences between retinol-treated skin and skin treated without retinol, in 36 elderly subjects (median age, 87 years). Observation showed a decrease in wrinkles, and biochemical measurements from skin biopsy specimens demonstrated increased water retention and collagen production in the cells of people treated with retinol.

HYDROLYZED GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS:
Glycosaminoglycans, or GAGs, are commonly used in hydrating cosmetics for their ability to increase depth hydration, improving the elasticity and firmness of the skin. They have a smaller molecular structure that favors penetration into the outer epidermal layers. GAGs leave skin smooth and soft and minimize depth and appearance of fine lines and anionic and non-ionic materials. They are ideal for natural-type skin repairing systems, improving elasticity, resiliency, and restoring the moisture balance.
GRAPE SEED OIL:
Grape Seed Oil is primarily used in skin care basically for its emollient properties.
Due to its antioxidant properties, grape seed oil can delay skin aging by minimizing the damage caused by free radicals.
Grape seed oil can provide protection against sun damage as well. It has astringent properties and, therefore, can tighten the skin. The linoleic acid found in grape seed oil can be very beneficial in skin conditions like, acne, dermatitis and eczema. Linoleic acid can soothe and nourish the skin and help it to repair. Vitamin E on the other hand, keeps the skin firm and smooth. Grape seed oil is easily absorbed by the body, and it can be used for reducing age spots, sunburn, wrinkles and stretch marks as well.
PLUM EXTRACT:
Plum extract is derived from prunus americana that may have antioxidant activity.
A natural antioxidant that eliminates free radicals, it stimulates the production of elastin and collagen to maintain skin suppleness.
ROSE EXTRACT:
Rose extract is a proven anti-aging skincare ingredient, with moisturizing and firming properties. Rose extract has a moisturizing, firming and soothing action and is ideal for dry and mature skin types.
Rose Extract diminishes scars and pits, lightens pigmentation, re-hydrates dry skin. It is also believed to improve the skin by stimulating production of collagen in fibroblast cells.
UBIQUINONE:
Also, known as Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
A handful of studies have shown that Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) may have an effect on skin and the appearance of wrinkles, most notably by reducing UV damage, stimulating healthy collagen production, and reducing substances in damaged skin that wreck havoc on its support structure (Sources: Biofactors, Volume 32, 2008, pages 237–243; and November 2005, pages 179–185; Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, March 2006, pages 30–38.
There is also research showing that sun exposure depletes the presence of CoQ10 in the skin. This is not surprising because many of the skin’s components become diminished on exposure to the sun. The latest research suggests that topical application of CoQ10 has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. As such, it is one of many helpful antioxidants for skin, but it is not the only one or the “best” (Sources: Biofactors, September-October 2009, pages 435–441; Journal of Investigative Dermatology, 2005, volume 125, number 4, pages 12–13; and Journal of Dermatological Science, August 2001, Supplement, pages 1–4).
CAVIAR OIL:
Caviar Oil is derived from aquacultured American Sturgeon, Acipenser transmontanus.
Caviar contains approximately 6% alpha tocopherol that when ingested or applied topically may provide photoprotective properties. A direct correlation has been made between the levels of free alphatocopherol in the skin and UV-B irradiation. Recent studies compared levels of alpha-tocopherol in skin following UV-B irradiation, with results revealing that levels of alpha-tocopherol were increased in tissue that was irradiated compared to non-irradiated tissue which received the same dose of topically applied alpha tocopherol. The potent antioxidant properties of vitamin E may also protect cells from damaging free radicals.
When used in cosmetics and personal care ingredients caviar oil may function as a superior moisturizer that leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. Caviar is also rich in triglycerides and phospholipids, including oleic, arachidonic, eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids, although the concentrations of fatty acids vary between farm raised and wild sturgeon oleic acid remains the dominant fatty acid present in aquacultured and wild type sturgeon. Additionally caviar is also rich in Omega–3 and Omega–6 essential fatty acids. A deficiency in Omega–6 fatty acid may contribute to dermatitis while Omega–3 fatty acids are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties.

HOW DOES IT WORK
The stratum corneum provides a natural barrier to an ingredient’s penetration. Paradoxically, particularly healthy skin with a robust stratum corneum will often resist the absorption of active cosmeceuticals. Creating a high pH differential outside the normal range will increase dermal penetration. However, this may result in skin irritation and is not recommended for clients with sensitive or fragile skin. This may be addressed with creating physical pathways in the skin.
Skin needling devices utilize shallow needles that penetrate the stratum corneum with no disruption to the dermal layer. The fine needles create miniature punctures in the stratum corneum, which creates a pathway for the absorption of active ingredients. The technology is based on fundamental biological principles, whereby channels are produced to transfer ingredients across the barrier.
Clinical needling devices of 0.75mm to 2.0mm in length are able to penetrate the stratum germinativum. These physical microscopic injuries result in the skin response to repair and lay down new collagen. The epidermis of the face varies from 0.3mm around the eyelids to 1.0mm in depth on the cheeks and chin. Since the dermal layer around the periorbital rim is shallow, it is not recommended to use clinical needles longer that 2.0mm as superficial tearing of the skin may result. A series of THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENTS (Micro-Needling Roller + THE PERFECT MASK™), may significantly improve surface skin texture via direct fibroblast stimulation. The results of Micro-Needling are only as good as the products applied to the skin! It is the responsibility of the skin care professional to advise his or her clients to use only high quality active cosmeceuticals, like THE PERFECT MASK™, which are free of cheap fillers and questionable ingredients. It is imperative to support your client’s skin regimen with high quality cosmeceuticals.
THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT’s clients will enjoy maximum results from increasing the dermal absorption of our signature active ingredients.
THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT will synchronize natural cell turnover cycle and restore an accelerated cell turnover cycle that make any woman to looks younger.
THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT is a highly versatile treatment that enhances and shortens the regeneration process of the skin cells. Thanks to our proprietary delivery system, the breakthrough active serum selectively penetrates the skin down to the stratum germinativum (germinative layer, consisting of the stratum basale and stratum spinosum), the deepest layers of the epidermis. There, at the very source of new cell formation, aging stem cells undergo intense repair to stimulate their revitalization and ensure their protection.
THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT contains a signature blend of hyaluronic acid, plant-based collagen, nanoGOLD, Coenzyme Q10, potent antioxidants and our own signature ingredient: PLCENTX- FORTE®, a lyophilized extract of premium ovine placental and umbilical cord tissue, for the ultimate stem cell repair.
Because the skin cell turnover process is continuous and ever-evolving, it is essential to undergo THE PERFECT MASK™ BIO-ACTIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT at least once a month. When this schedule is consistent, the skin will actually start looking younger, rather than older, and will assume a healthier, more efficient turnover cycle. While the results will be immediately visible from the first treatment, they will also accumulate with each treatment.
